On Nov. 3, 2012, the Opening Ceremony of Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association for Education and Consulting and the 2012 Education and Consulting Forum were successfully held in Tsinghua SEM. Professor LI Jinliang, Associate Dean of Tsinghua SEM, was present and delivered a speech. Other attendees included JIANG Peixing (MBA1995E), Deputy President and Secretary General of Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association, HE Qing (MBA2005Sinopec), President of Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association of Shanxi, deputy presidents CHEN Gong (MBA1994E) and MENG Xiaofan (MBA1999P1), managing directors XU Zhong (MBA1997F) and CANG Zijian (MBA1998F), alumni directors XING Yun (MBA2000SETC) and ZHAO Wei (MBA2007P), etc. More than 100 Tsinghua alumni in consulting and training, teachers and students attended the event. XU Zhong chaired the ceremony and the forum.
The Association for Education and Consulting is the third trade association formally established by Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association. The First Executive Committee of the Association was elected on the ceremony, with CANG Zijian, partner and General Manager of Strategy and Transformation Consulting, Business Consulting, IBM Greater China Group, as the first president, and MENG Xiaofan, partner of Deloitte Consulting (Beijing), JIAO Jie (MBA1999P2), Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Tsinghua SEM, and XU Zhong, President of Beijing Excelland Education Technology Co., Ltd., as executive deputy presidents. Ten deputy presidents were elected, including WANG Yong (MBA1998SETC), Executive Director of Tsinghua SEM EMBA Center, Professor ZHENG Yuhuang (MBA1998I) of Tsinghua SEM, etc. “Over 500 Tsinghua MBA alumni are engaged in educational training and management consulting. It is a professional group with a considerable number of members and ample intellectual capital. MBA alumni include entrepreneurs, investors and intellectual capitalists for intellectual services, and they can be connected into a complete industrial chain to strongly promote the economic and social growth of China. We suggest collecting the intellectual resources and strengthening intra-industrial, occupational and academic exchanges, so as to improve the management of Chinese enterprises and serve MBA teachers and students with intelligence and strength”, said the head of the Association for Education and Consulting.
In his speech on behalf of Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association, JIANG Peixing congratulated the Association for Education and Consulting on its establishment. Then he introduced to the audience the development and progress of Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association, explained its idea of work, and repeated the principles of openness, inclusiveness, sharing and mutual gain. With great anticipations for the newly-established Association for Education and Consulting, JIANG encouraged the branches to be open for more alumni, get more spirit, build a sharing platform and provide the alumni with consistent services. HE Qing, President of Tsinghua MBA Alumni Association of Shanxi, sent his best regards to the Association for Education and Consulting on behalf of the branches, and wished it “a growing number of members and a promising future”.
Professor LI Jinliang delivered a speech on behalf of SEM. According to LI, education and consulting are typical intellectual industries with great development potentials, as well as the key areas which provide job opportunities for MBA graduates. He expected the Association for Education and Consulting to offer more opportunities to new alumni and MBA students, play a directive role and help with talent training. Professor LI emphasized, “MBA students should be included in the events of the MBA Alumni Association, as not only the audience but also active participators.” Concerning the future work of the Association for Education and Consulting, Professor LI presented a host of constructive ideas. In his opinion, “how to run a trade association for long in the real sense” and “how to innovate under ‘MBA+X’, the new trend of university integration” should be the two major concerns of the Association.
WANG Pu, Founder and President of Allpku Management Consultants Ltd., and CANG Zijian, partner of IBM Consulting, made keynote speeches titled “Democracy, Freedom, Equality and Transparency” and “Take the Opportunity of Connected Economy to Lead an Intellectual Growth”, respectively dissecting Allpku under a “microscope” and probing into China’s economy with the “magnifier” of globalization. Many alumni “complained”, “The speeches were too short to get enough.”
The roundtable forum was even more star-studded. Guests, including Professor ZHENG Yuhuang from Tsinghua SEM, CUI Zili, partner of Adfaith Management Consulting Inc., WANG Yu (MBA1999F2), partner of H&J Vanguard Research and Consulting Co., Ltd., LIU Yan (MBA2003S2), President of Shengjing360.com, LI Qiang (MBA1999F1), partner of Allpku Management Consultants Ltd., XU Zhong, CANG Zijian and MENG Xiaofan, exchanged ideas and brainstormed on the topics of business management in China today, development of education and consulting, etc. With optimism, LIU Yan believed “there are infinite market opportunities for SMEs”. But in WANG Yu’s opinion, the worst thing for Chinese enterprises is the “absence of a transparent, fair and stable environment”, and “the changeable environment makes enterprises feel insecure”. Professor ZHENG Yuhuang gave his “prescription”: “Always make the best products, be as differentiated as possible, and pursue lifelong loyalty of customers.”
