Flextronics International has recently announced that the company will co-initiate a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Chair Professorship project with Tsinghua SEM.

According to the project agreement signed by the two parties, Flextronics will offer a 1,000, 000 dollar fund to support the CSR researches carried out at SEM. SEM are also expected to develop systematic CSR courses, host business ethic debates and CSR case competitions. Moreover, as a part of the agreement, a classroom at SEM will be named after Flextronics International. The two parties deem that the project is an innovative cooperative model between an enterprise and a business school.

“Tsinghua is a university of global prestige. We are glad to celebrate its 100th birthday with this project,” said Paul J. Humphries, Executive Vice President for Worldwide Human Resources and Management Systems at Flextronics.

Senior Associate Dean YANG Bin of SEM explained: CSR has always been an educational focus of SEM. The School hopes that students know how to strike a balance between benefits, ethics and the eco-system. The immigrant workers working at Flextronics also provide a base for researches of SEM. The project, according to YANG Bin, is a definite win-win.

During the centenary celebration, an inaugural ceremony of the Flextronics classroom and a speech on CSR were carried out at SEM.
