On June 8, 2018, Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management (Tsinghua SEM) accepted a donation at a ceremony to its student social practice fund from the Industrial Bank’s Beijing branch. The fund is aimed at encouraging Tsinghua SEM’s undergraduate students to take part in social practices, arousing their interest in social and economic affairs, helping them get a comprehensive understanding of the financial sector, fostering a sense of social responsibility in them, making them see the necessity of assuming the responsibility of national rejuvenation, and putting the guiding principles of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China into practice. The fund will support Tsinghua SEM’s outstanding youth cultivation program and the Industrial Bank’s support program for undergraduate students’ social practices.

ZHANG Guosheng, assistant to the manager of the Industrial Bank’s Beijing branch said that they follow the principle of sustainable development and carry out their social responsibility by contributing to public goods. They are glad to support the development of Tsinghua SEM and help it with undergraduate education including its social practice projects and outstanding youth cultivation program. ZHANG said that they hope to strengthen ties with Tsinghua SEM and cooperate closely with the latter in the creation of internships and jobs, innovation, entrepreneurship, discipline construction, and financial services.

GAO Jian, Party Secretary of Tsinghua SEM CPC Committee thanked the Industrial Bank’s Beijing branch for its support for Tsinghua SEM’s student social practice fund. GAO said that the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China set out many major strategies such as rural revitalization, the regional development strategy, and the Belt and Road Initiative. Hopefully, Tsinghua SEM students will be able to get involved in the implementation of these national development strategies, and the social practice is one important way. Tsinghua SEM always encourages its students to put what they have learned into practice and to solve the problems that they encounter in social practices. GAO hoped that the social practice fund could encourage Tsinghua SEM students to learn more about society and get involved in social activities, and help foster leadership in students. He believed that the fund would play an important and unique role in undergraduate education of Tsinghua SEM.

Among those who took part in the ceremony were CHEN Jingxing, general manager of the HR Supervision Department of the Industrial Bank’s Beijing branch; CHEN Zhida, deputy manager of the Financial Management Section under the Planning and Finance Department of the Industrial Bank’s Beijing branch; GUO Zhaohui, Director of the Student Affairs Office of Tsinghua SEM; TANG Yunduan, Deputy Director of the Resource Development Office; and student representatives. The event was emceed by Professor GAO Feng, Director of the Student Task Force of Tsinghua SEM CPC Committee Office.
