On April 19, 2021, Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management (Tsinghua SEM) held a ceremony to award the 2020 CHEN Xiaoyue scholarships. Professor CHEN Xiaoyue’s widow GUO Fengmei, his daughter CHEN Meng, his former students LIU Yongtao, CHEN Wuzhao, ZHANG Zhengrong, ZHU Jinpu, GUO Xiaoyan, WEI Li, LI Tie, and SUN Liqiang, and his close friends YAN Yangsheng and YANG Shaozong took part in the ceremony. CHEN Yubo, Party Secretary of Tsinghua SEM CPC Committee and Senior Associate Dean; XIAO Xing, Director of the Department of Accounting of Tsinghua SEM; QU Weijing, Director of the CPC Committee Office and the Graduate Student Task Force; GUO Zhaohui, Director of the Student Task Force and the Student Affairs Office of Tsinghua SEM; and WANG Min, Deputy Director of the Resource Development Office also participated in the event emceed by ZHAO Dongqing, Deputy Party Secretary of Tsinghua SEM CPC Committee.

CHEN Yubo thanked the CHEN Xiaoyue Foundation for its generous giving. The CHEN Xiaoyue Scholarships were established in 2010 and included in a scholarship scheme for commemorating late Tsinghua teachers. He said that the CHEN Xiaoyue Foundation brought warmth and encouragement to Tsinghua SEM students and was highly respected and praised by the faculty and students. In 2020, Mr. LU Jinhai donated 1 million yuan to the scholarship fund, offering help to more students. CHEN Yubo hoped that the scholarship winners would work harder, have high aspirations, assume the responsibility that history gave them, and make a positive contribution to society.

XIAO Xing talked about her experience of working with Professor CHEN. Professor CHEN had a great sense of responsibility and always strived for academic excellence. His example had inspired XIAO and many others for years. Professor CHEN was still remembered and highly respected. XIAO hoped that the scholarship winners would follow Professor CHEN’s example of striving for self-improvement and innovation and work even harder to make higher academic achievements as a way to celebrate the 110th birthday of Tsinghua University.

LIU Yongtao, an associate professor from the Capital University of Economics and Business’s School of Public Finance and Taxation spoke on the behalf of Professor CHEN’s former students. LIU said that Professor CHEN had made the most profound influence on his life of all his teachers. Professor CHEN’s charming personality had influenced many people besides him. LIU hoped that the scholarship winners would accomplish more in the future, which would be a great way to honor Professor CHEN.

After that, a short film was played at the ceremony to remember Professor CHEN.

GU Lingyu spoke on behalf of the scholarship winners. GU thanked the CHEN Xiaoyue Foundation for its support and encouragement to Tsinghua SEM students and said the scholarships had rich spiritual content and gave the winners a sense of responsibility and mission. She hoped that the scholarship winners would follow Professor CHEN’s example of being a responsible and upright scholar and wholeheartedly dedicating oneself to research and work.

The CHEN Xiaoyue Scholarships were established in 2010 and aim to reward outstanding undergraduate and graduate students majoring in finance and accounting.
